Current NIST guidance requires verifiers to set a minimum of at least 15 characters for passwords used as a single authentication factor and recommends permitting a maximum length of at least 64 characters. Users should still choose unique values and enable stronger authentication where available.

Why random generation matters

Human-created passwords often contain names, dates, keyboard patterns and predictable substitutions. Adding a year or one symbol to a common word does not make the value truly random. A browser generator can select from a larger space without relying on personal information.

Use a different password for every account

Password reuse allows an exposed credential from one service to be tested against unrelated accounts. Protect primary email, password manager, financial, work, cloud, domain and hosting accounts first. A password manager makes unique credentials practical.

Password or passphrase?

Use a random password when a password manager will store and fill it. Use a long random passphrase when you must remember and type the secret, especially for a password manager. Do not use a quotation, lyric or personal sentence.

More private tools

Choose the right password tool

A password generator is the best choice when a password manager will save the result. A passphrase generator is usually better for a secret you must type and remember, such as a password-manager master password. The strength checker helps you examine a sample locally, while the policy builder helps teams document rules without collecting employee passwords.

For everyday accounts

Generate a different long random password for email, shopping, social media and subscriptions. Save each value in a password manager instead of modifying one favorite password.

For a memorable secret

Use several randomly selected unrelated words. Do not use lyrics, quotations, addresses, family names or a sentence other people could associate with you.

For account recovery

Use only the providerโ€™s official recovery route. Password Tools Hub never asks for a password, one-time code, recovery code or identity document.

What makes this site different

The interactive tools are designed to perform their calculations inside the browser. Generated values are not intentionally placed in page URLs, analytics events or advertising parameters. The site separates password creation from account recovery and never claims to reveal an existing password or bypass ownership checks.

Security advice is organized around four practical goals: use unique credentials, protect the primary email account, add stronger authentication where available and prepare recovery before an emergency. Product menus can change, so platform-specific pages link users back to official account and help centers for the final action.

A safer workflow after generation

  1. Save the new password in a reputable password manager.
  2. Confirm autofill works before ending the current trusted session.
  3. Review the accountโ€™s recovery email and phone number.
  4. Enable a passkey, authenticator app or security key when appropriate.
  5. Store recovery codes separately from the signed-in device.

Frequently asked questions

Does Password Tools Hub store generated passwords?

The production generator is designed to create the value locally and not intentionally send or store it.

What length should I choose?

For important accounts, 18โ€“24 random characters is a practical starting point when supported. Longer is appropriate for passphrases.

Can this site recover a forgotten password?

No. Use the official account providerโ€™s recovery process.

Should I paste my existing password here?

The main generator does not need your current password. For strength testing, use a similar sample when possible.

Security notice

Password Tools Hub provides general educational tools. A strong password cannot protect an infected device, a phishing victim or an insecure recovery process. Never use these tools for unauthorized access.

Why the site is smaller now

Password Tools Hub deliberately consolidates overlapping pages. A focused guide with a distinct decision is more useful than several near-duplicate pages targeting minor keyword variations. The current index contains only the tools and guides that passed the siteโ€™s usefulness and overlap review.

Privacy you can inspect

Generator and planning tools are designed to run locally in the browser. Generated values are not intentionally submitted to our server, placed in page URLs or included in analytics events. Users can verify this by reviewing network activity in browser developer tools.
